I got to learn about and try so many things today. (at University of Central Florida)
Disclaimer: I don’t want anyone to think I’m misappropriating culture here. I was completely surprised when the students approached me and asked if they could put a hijab on me … and when they didn’t like it, they put this on me instead and were really excited and having a good time. I was unsure at first, but they were really insistent it was just fun. :)

Both are cute but the second one they tried definitely suits you more!
This reminds me of that night in Japan when your coworkers said they wanted to take us home and dress us in kimono haha.
Also I just randomly thought of that older guy at dinner who was like “CAN I TOUCH YOUR CHEEK?!” to me. XD

Omggg AHAHAHAHA! I totally forgot about that!
Yeah, Japanese people are always wanting to dress up their foreign colleagues in 和服! That’s why everyone at my schools freaked out happily when I did the maiko photo shoot in Kyoto. (≧∇≦)

Hehe And same goes with my international students. It’s fun to share your culture with others!

And you’re right, Seester, the hijab doesn’t look so good on me. I really can’t get away with my hair back off my face. xnikkipryde

Right. To be clear, I was not saying every foreigner I knew got their apartment through their job, but that every foreigner I knew got their apartment when already in country, not online as the question asked. It’s certainly not impossible for a non-Japanese to find a rental, only that it’d be near impossible to do it online, outside of Japan.
Regardless, as we both said, it’s expense, frequently problematic, and often frustrating. Be prepared for that up front.
But it’s doable. People do it every day. Good luck. keitorininwonderland ritiri

I will never forget where I was when the world literally shifted for us all. Japan, your people are so precious to me. Peace and goodness to you.
